Do Type IIA Fast Twitch Fibers Make You Jump Highe

There are 3 muscle fiber types in the human body:

Type I: Slow Twitch Fibers
Type IIA: Fast Twitch Fibers
Type IIB: Fast Twitch Fibers

In this blog post, I will discuss the type IIA fibers, and how they relate to jumping higher.

Type IIA fast twitch fibers are also known as fast twitch oxidative muscle fibers.

They are in the middle of the range of muscle fibers and they get tired faster, contract faster, and produce more force than slow twitch fibers.

With that being said, they don’t produce as much force as Type IIB muscle fibers.

They are therefore not as important in vertical jump training.
