I would stick with the Maclaren if you don't need the double sell it and buy a single Maclaren. The Maclaren is better quality than the sit and stand. The Maclaren accommodates larger children more than any other stroller. It has the highest weight capacity that I have seen and is wider and more durable. The Maclaren is owned by a friend of mine that she bought when her boy was a year old. He is now 6 and a half and 67 pounds and still uses it regularly. (He is Autistic). Also a school for disabilities in my area has the Maclaren stroller lining the hallways of there school right next to all the wheelchairs.
References :
I have the Sit & Stand. I love it. My kids are 5, 3.5 and 8.5 months. It fits in the trunk of my Focus. It can hold all three kids in a pinch (for those all too frequent Mommmmmyyy, I'm so tired I can't walk anymore moments). It's not ultra-heavy, and it folds easy, so it's easy on planes and in airports.

My older kids don't nap anymore, so I don't need the space for them to sleep. And, if they're that tired, we get in the car and go home.
References :
You can get a used Phil & Teds with the doubles kit. Your older one will be fine up front, and your little guy will be well under the 35 lb limit for the back. The stroller itself goes to 85 lbs, so you'd be good there. And when you don't need both seats, just take the back one off.

I also have a Maclaren and a Buggy Board. Doesn't solve your nap problem, but at least your big guy can ride a bit, when need be, and you don't have a big bulky thing to drag around. The weight limit on the Maclaren is 65 lbs.

I wouldn't do a Sit'n'Stand. It's huge, heavy, bulky, and you won't use it for very long.
References :
the sit n stand was the best purchase i made for my two kids. the only thing you need to watch out for with the 5 yr old is the weight limit, pick a stroller and see what its capacity it for the rear standing section.
References :
If you don't like the expensive one and don't feel you're using it enough, sell it and buy the sit and stand one. Your older child shouldn't be in the stroller so much that he needs a nap anyway. I doubt you talk walks for so long that he would need to nap.
