How possible is it to hear Boston radio stations from New Haven?
Ok. I basically know how radio waves work. But, last night, just west of New Haven, Ct, I picked up an FM station from Vermont that was 100s of miles away at 88.1 I would like to pick up some stations out of Boston, such as 88.9 WERS. The strongest signal around CT at that part of the dial is WPQN at 89.5, so how would or could I go about picking up 88.9 out of Boston. I know this is highly unlikely, but lets say somehow their transmitter was powerful enough…what could i do to try to pick them up?
Definitly, radio raves are transmitted through the air as a conductor and if you’re in close enough range of Boston, you could pick up on those waves, ESPECIALLY if you have a god radio system. Also, I don’t know why but when it rains near my house, I can pick up on Boston stations and I live in RI. What could help you pick up out of state stations also wrap alluminum foil on the antena, lmao, it sounds crazy but it always helps me, lol.

Can the ipod radio remote pickup internet radio stations?
I just purchased the ipod radio remote and I have crappy radio stations where I am and I was just wondering if it can pick up any stations on the internet or if there is some way to pick up radio stations outside of Boone, NC at Appalachian State University. Preferably hip hop.
Check your manual or call the toll-free number for assistance.
I hope that helps.

Do you live in the Metro Detroit area and listen to satellite radio instead of local radio stations?
In my opinion Detroit radio stations suck.
I wish I lived in Flint, Michigan area so I could pick up 102.5 FM WIOG from Saginaw, Michigan.
I got SIRIUS satellite radio and I love it.
Wow I disagree. Detroit has had a number of syndicated radio shows that are now nationwide. As far as music there is really something for everyone. If you like WIOG maybe you would like 93.1, 95.5, 102.7, or 97.9. They all are a bit different but those are POP station like you listened to in Flint. I have Sirius as well the problem I have is the reception in my car is not that great because it is run through my radio. Good Luck

What are some common complaints about college radio stations?
What are some things you dislike or find annoying about college radio stations? I am an advisor to a college station, and I want to overcome as many obstacles as possible.
They don’t play late enough?
Some songs are not allowed to be played

What are some hip hop radio stations where you can request a song by texting??
I’m trying to request a song but I don’t really wanna call in so do you know any radio stations where you can request a song by the internet or by text? Thanks!
pretty much any radio station accepts requests that are texted. and if it’s because you don’t want your voice on the radio they don’t always put your voice on the radio. or you can try emailing the station.

Is it legal for radio stations to require answers to on-air questions to win a prize?
In states that make it illegal for radio stations to have lotteries (contests, games, etc. with prize, chance, and consideration), is requiring the correct answer to a question mean "consideration"?
Supplying the correct answer is just what keeps it legal.

Do commercial radio stations speed up their songs?
Call me crazy, but as anyone ever noticed how some songs on the radio are played in a slightly higher key as they are on the album? I’ve noticed this on many commercialized radio stations, and it’s very annoying. Do radio stations speed up their songs?
Some do…
Most hit music, hip hop and some country stations do it. Usually the songs are 2% or 3% faster.
The practice dates back to the birth of top 40 radio. Some program directors thought the music sounded brighter or happier when sped up.
I’ve worked in radio for 17 years. Every hit music station I’ve worked at has pitched the music 2%. One hip-hop station did 3%.
As a side note, I own a Houston DJ service and usually speed up my music by 2% so it matches the local radio stations.

Why is it that radio stations when there playing songs from years past never play those forgotten ones?
I would guess that radio stations have a lot of money and the latest up to date hardware. Why do they waist it on the same old tunes from the past decades?
Some things are better left forgotten…*cough*Jimmy Buffet*cough*…

How do Radio Stations know their ratings?
You know how if you are listening to the radio and they say "we are the number one radio station in the blank area" how would they know that? TV’s have those v chips or whatever but how would the radio stations know?
They send out radio surveys for random people in millions of households. I did one last year, and I also filled it in for my parents. They came in the mail for the three of us and it was a pamphlet with boxes for the station and time. They pay you but its only 5 bucks each (i think or maybe it was 3)
PLEASE BEST ANSWER ME!!!!!

Can radio stations tell if you are tunning out of their frequency?
I’m just wondering because the extremely irritating TECATE LIGHT commercials really tick me off. Whenever that commercial comes up I either switch the radio off or tune onto another station. I guess I’m hoping enough people do this so that radio stations see that people are getting fed up with TECATE LIGHT.
…TECATE LIGHT.
If you are in the US and taking part in an Arbitron PPM survey – yes. Otherwise (and this is 99%) no.
UNLESS it’s Sirius or XM, in which case they might be able to track listening that closely.
I’ve found that when a commercial offends me, a letter (or email) to the advertising dept. or Investor reations dept. will register on their radar. See below.
