Can you really get a bartending job with no experience? The answer is absolutely.

Even in this economy? Yes, now more than ever actually. What bartenders don’t want you to know is that mixing drinks is only about 2% of bartending jobs. Most of the job is being able to handle money responsibly, talk to customers and generally have a presence behind the stick.

In today’s economy most bar owners realize that bartenders with bad attitudes are costing them money. People aren’t going out nearly as much as they used to so bars need to maximize every opportunity they get.

Owners have begun to lose patience with crabby, out of touch bartenders – even if they make the best drinks on the planet. Custoomers come back for the overall experience and a great attitude can overcome any sub-par drink making skills.

So if you are hunting for your first bartending job make sure you put your best foot forward in your interview and show the owner that you will get the customers coming back, again and again.
