ISO 9001 clause 5.1

ISO 9001 clause 5.1 requires that management demonstrate commitment to quality. In order to comply with the standard an organisation’s senior management will need to provide evidence of commitment to the development and implementation of the quality management system and continual improvement.

ISO 9001 requires that senior management establish a quality policy and quality objectives and conduct management reviews. The organisation will also need to ensure the availability of sufficient resources for the effective operation of the quality management system.

There should be communication channels from senior management to all personnel so that there is an understanding of the need to meet customer, statutory and regulatory requirements throughout the organisation.
