Why choose alloy wheels?

People choose alloy car wheels for several reasons.

For one they are lightweight which is a plus if you plan on a larger wheel for your car. Also, just moving from a steel wheel to an alloy of the same size will significantly reduce the weight.

By reducing the un-sprung weight, you also get better steering response with lighter wheels. This also reduces the strain on your suspension providing for a much smoother ride.

Another advantage of alloy car wheels is that the are able to dissipate heat caused by friction of the breaks. Aluminum is great for that.
Finally, you can avoid rust since alloys don’t corrode like traditional steel wheels.

For these reasons among others, most manufacturers are now including alloy wheels on some base model cars
